V Ring Seal Sizes
V ring seals are mounted on shafts and their thin tapered lip seals against a surface counterface at right angles to the shaft.
V ring seal sizes. A unique sealing concept. A v ring is a solid rubber seal used on shafts to prevent dirt moisture and other unwanted material from entering an oil seal housing or any other desired area while simultaneously keeping lubricants in. Skf supplies two types of v ring seals. All rubber v rings fig 1 or just called v rings.
V ring seals are axial shaft seals available in a wide range of sizes and appropriate for many applications. V rings are mounted to the shaft and can be used as a face seal lip seal or more commonly as a flinger where centrifugal forces from the spinning shaft deflect fluids away from a counter face surface. The a type v rings are designed for shaft sizes up to 2020 mm. No special demands are placed on the surface finish of the shaft seating and the v rings act as flingers since they have an interference fit on the shaft and rotate with it.
The construction of a v ring seal is divided into three parts. For applications where higher temperatures occur or where aggressive media are present v rings made of fluoro rubber should be used. It works by stretching over the shaft to create a tight seal along the shaft while the flexible lip seals lightly against the counterface. The s type v rings are designed for shaft sizes up to 200 mm.
Made entirely of rubber v rings can be easily stretched to fit over assembled parts and one size can fit a number of shaft diameters.
